Grade 2 vs Grade 5 Titanium Forgings
Grade 2 and Grade 5 are not interchangeable titanium forging grades. Grade 2 is commercially pure titanium, while Grade 5 is Ti-6Al-4V. Selection should follow design strength, corrosion environment, temperature, fabrication route and the invoked specification.

Do Not Transfer Plate or Bar Properties Automatically
Properties and acceptance criteria depend on the applicable product specification, forging condition, dimensions and test orientation. A certificate for plate or bar does not prove that a forging meets the same purchase requirements.
Corrosion and Strength Review
Grade 2 is often evaluated for chemical and marine corrosion service. Grade 5 is commonly evaluated for higher-load components. Actual suitability requires review of the medium, temperature, stress, crevice geometry, joining and design code.
