Titanium Seamless vs Welded Tube
2026-08-11
Seamless and welded titanium tubes can use the same alloy grade but follow different manufacturing routes. Selection should be based on the applicable product specification, dimensions, service, fabrication and inspection plan.

Comparison
| Item | Seamless | Welded |
|---|---|---|
| Starting route | Hollow billet followed by reduction or drawing | Flat-rolled stock formed and longitudinally welded |
| Critical review | Wall uniformity, reduction route and applicable tests | Weld quality, seam condition and applicable NDE |
| Selection | Specification scope, dimensions, service and project acceptance control | |
Do Not Select From Appearance
A finished weld seam can be difficult to see. Certification, manufacturing records and specified examination—not surface appearance—establish the route and acceptance.
