Grade 2 Titanium Seamless Tube MOQ and Bulk RFQ Checklist

Prepare a complete bulk RFQ for Grade 2 titanium seamless tube, including standard, dimensions, testing, MOQ, price factors and substitution limits.

  • Standards-aware sourcing guidance
  • Grade and application comparisons
  • Inspection and RFQ considerations

Grade 2 titanium seamless tube is requested for corrosion-resistant heat-transfer, seawater and process-equipment service. A useful quotation requires the product standard, outside diameter, wall, length, surface, tests, quantity and documentation.

Start with the Correct Product Standard

ASTM B338 applies to seamless and welded titanium tube for condensers and heat exchangers. ASTM B861 applies to seamless titanium pipe. A material grade does not replace the product standard.

Product Reference Confirm
Heat-exchanger tube ASTM B338 / ASME SB338 Seamless route, OD, wall, length, condition and tests
Seamless process pipe ASTM B861 / ASME SB861 NPS or OD, schedule or wall, ends and design code

Compare ASTM B338, B861 and B862, review the Grade 2 seamless tube product page, or browse titanium pipe and tube.

Bulk RFQ Information

Send the complete requirement initially because missing tolerance or testing can change the route and price.

  • Grade 2 / UNS R50400 and standard revision.
  • OD or NPS, wall or schedule, length, tolerance and quantity.
  • Annealed condition, surface, cleanliness and end preparation.
  • MTC, heat traceability, dimensional report, pressure test and required NDT.
  • Total weight, acceptable overage, packing, destination and delivery date.
  • Fluid, concentration, temperature, pressure and design code.

What Determines MOQ and Price?

There is no universal MOQ. It depends on size availability, starting hollow or billet, drawing and annealing operations, inspection lot, cut lengths and packing. Standard sizes may support smaller quantities; unusual OD and wall combinations can require a production lot. State repeat or annual demand with the immediate order.

Factor Commercial effect RFQ action
OD and wall Controls drawing stages and yield Provide tolerance and minimum wall
Order weight Distributes setup, tests and packing State pieces, weight and repeat demand
Inspection NDT and reports add work Invoke required tests clearly

Can a Cheaper Material Replace Grade 2 Titanium?

Lower initial price does not establish a safe substitute. Stainless steel, duplex, nickel alloy, Grade 1 titanium or welded titanium tube changes corrosion, strength, fabrication, inspection or design assumptions. Review alternatives against chemistry, chloride level, temperature, pressure, crevices, expected life and the governing code. Welded tube cannot replace seamless product where the specification requires seamless construction. All substitutions require engineering and specification approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Grade 2 seamless tube always ASTM B338?

No. ASTM B338 is commonly used for heat-exchanger tube; ASTM B861 applies to seamless pipe.

What is needed for a bulk quotation?

Send grade, standard, dimensions, tolerance, quantity, condition, tests, documents, packing, destination and application.

Can welded Grade 2 tube reduce price?

Only when the project specification and engineering review permit welded construction.

For heat-transfer projects use the ASTM B338 RFQ checklist; for route selection review seamless versus welded tube.
