Grade 2 vs Grade 5 Titanium Circular Blanks

Grade 2 circular blanks emphasize commercially pure titanium corrosion resistance and formability; Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V blanks are selected when higher material strength is required. A cut blank is intermediate stock, not a qualified finished disc.

Source Plate and Blank Definition
State the plate standard and condition, blank OD, thickness, tolerances, cutting method, edge condition, flatness, machining allowance and quantity. Material certificates describe source plate; the finished component remains controlled by its drawing.
Machining and Inspection
Define whether the blank is as-cut, ground or finish-machined. Specify dimensional inspection, surface acceptance, edge cleanup, MTC, heat traceability and any ultrasonic or penetrant examination required by the project.

No. Corrosion, design, fabrication and qualification must also be reviewed.
