Titanium Elbow Production Instructions.

A titanium elbow must be manufactured to a defined material, dimensional and piping specification—not from a universal set of shop instructions. Production route, forming temperature, weld construction, heat treatment and nondestructive examination depend on elbow size, wall thickness, grade, service and the governing standard.
Typical Production Sequence
- Review the purchase specification: confirm grade, ASTM or project material specification, fitting standard, size, schedule, angle, radius and seamless or welded construction.
- Verify starting material: maintain heat identity and check chemistry, dimensions and surface condition.
- Form the elbow: use a qualified hot- or cold-forming route with tooling that prevents iron contamination and excessive thinning.
- Complete welding when applicable: protect the weld and heat-affected zone with high-purity inert shielding until cool enough to avoid harmful oxidation.
- Heat treat when required: follow the material specification and qualified manufacturing procedure rather than assuming every elbow needs the same anneal.
- Finish and inspect: remove contamination, verify dimensions and wall thickness, and perform the specified surface or volumetric examinations.
