Titanium threaded fittings are considered where compact piping connections face chloride-bearing water, oxidizing media or other environments compatible with the selected titanium grade. Suitability depends on the complete piping design rather than corrosion resistance alone.

Chemical Processing

Threaded elbows, tees and couplings may be used in small-bore chemical lines, sampling systems and equipment connections after review of medium concentration, contaminants, temperature, pressure, crevice conditions and mating materials. Grade selection must follow the actual corrosion environment.

Marine and Desalination Systems

Titanium is widely considered for seawater and chloride service. Threaded fittings may connect instruments, auxiliary lines or corrosion-resistant equipment, but designers must still control galvanic contact, deposits, joint sealing, flow conditions and inspection access.

Cooling Water and Heat-Transfer Equipment

A titanium threaded union can support equipment removal, while a threaded elbow redirects compact auxiliary piping. Confirm that threaded construction is allowed by the governing piping code and project specification.

Instrumentation and Sampling

When a Threaded Joint May Not Be Appropriate

Do not select a threaded fitting solely because installation appears simple. High cyclic load, severe vibration, inaccessible leakage risk, code restrictions or critical containment may require another joint design. The piping engineer should evaluate welded, flanged or other connections.
