Product Detail
Product Introduction
Source Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V titanium sheet and plate for aerospace and high-strength fabrication, with inspection and traceability. Final supply is controlled by the grade, specification revision, dimensions, condition, tolerance, inspection and documentation stated on the approved order.
When should Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V plate be used?
Selection answer: Grade 5 is an alpha-beta alloy chosen primarily for high strength-to-weight performance, fatigue-sensitive structures and machined components rather than as a general replacement for commercially pure corrosion-service plate.
Selection boundary: Its corrosion behavior, formability, heat treatment and weld requirements differ from Grade 2 or Grade 7. ASTM B265 and an aerospace specification such as AMS 4911 are not interchangeable purchase descriptions.
RFQ data to confirm: Specify the exact standard and revision, condition or heat treatment, thickness, direction-sensitive test requirements, ultrasonic testing if required, machining allowance and end use.
Product Specifications
| Product | Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Sheet & Plate | Grade | Grade 5 / Ti-6Al-4V / UNS R56400 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ASTM B265 covers annealed titanium strip, sheet and plate and identifies Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V as UNS R56400. An aerospace material specification such as AMS 4911 may impose a different condition, testing, quality and documentation package; do not treat ASTM B265 and an AMS order as interchangeable. | Size & Form | Sheet, plate and cut blanks; thickness and dimensions are confirmed per RFQ |
| Tolerance | Applicable ASTM, AMS or customer drawing | Supply Condition | Annealed, hot rolled or cold rolled, pickled or blasted |
| Inspection | Verify the exact standard and revision, Grade 5 / UNS R56400 heat identity, chemistry including interstitial limits, mechanical properties and test orientation, condition, thickness, width, length, flatness, surface, edges and marking. Define ultrasonic or penetrant examination, microstructure, grain direction, machining allowance and aerospace documentation only with the required method and acceptance criteria. | Documents | MTC, heat/lot traceability and agreed inspection reports |
Additional Supply & Ordering Details
Useful, technically consistent information consolidated from earlier product pages.
| Specification boundary | ASTM B265 Grade 5 and AMS4911 Ti-6Al-4V are not interchangeable order descriptions. State the exact standard, revision, condition, product form and supplementary aerospace or project requirements. |
|---|---|
| Condition and direction | Define annealed or other approved condition, thickness, rolling direction and test orientation. Mechanical acceptance and forming behavior depend on product form, section and heat-treatment route. |
| Machining and fatigue data | Provide finished-part drawing, stock allowance, flatness, surface, edge condition, fatigue-critical surfaces and any restriction on thermal cutting or repair. |
| Inspection package | State chemistry and tensile reports, heat traceability, dimensions, surface, ultrasonic class when required, microstructure or aerospace documentation and third-party witness points. |

Services We Can Provide
Product Packaging
Sheet and plate surfaces are interleaved or wrapped as required, protected at edges and secured on pallets or in export cases with grade, heat and dimensional identification. Typical export packaging for the same physical product form is shown below; final packing is confirmed for each order.

Application Scenarios

Aerospace structures
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

Motorsport and marine parts
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

High-strength fabricated components
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.
FAQ
Is ASTM B265 Grade 5 plate the same as AMS 4911 plate?
No. Both may describe Ti-6Al-4V flat product, but the governing specification, revision, condition, test orientation, quality controls and documentation can differ. The purchase order must name the required specification.
Can Grade 5 plate be substituted for Grade 23 ELI plate?
Not automatically. Grade 23 has extra-low-interstitial chemistry and may be ordered under a different UNS or application specification. Substitution requires engineering and specification approval.
What information is needed to quote Grade 5 sheet or plate?
Provide ASTM B265, AMS 4911 or the exact project specification and revision, Grade 5 / UNS R56400, sheet, plate or cut blank, thickness, width, length, condition, surface, flatness, test orientation, NDT, quantity, MTC and traceability.
