Product Detail

Product Introduction

Grade 2 Titanium Cap Nuts provide a closed domed end over the mating bolt or stud, helping shield exposed threads and create a finished external profile. They are not automatically pressure-tight. Selection requires thread engagement, available dome depth, stud projection, wrenching clearance, seating face, installation torque and service environment.

Typical inquiry ranges are not a stock guarantee. Final manufacturability, tolerances and test requirements are confirmed against the complete RFQ.

Selection and Configuration

  • Dome clearance: Confirm internal dome depth against bolt or stud projection so the nut seats on the joint rather than bottoming internally.
  • Thread engagement: Define thread, class of fit and minimum usable engagement together with mating fastener material and condition.
  • Sealing expectation: State whether the cap is for protection and appearance only or whether a separate engineered sealing feature is required.
Standards and ordering definition: DIN 1587 or an approved drawing may define particular cap-nut geometry when expressly invoked. The purchase order must separately define titanium grade, condition, proof or mechanical requirements, thread acceptance, tests and documentation.

FAQ

Are titanium cap nuts pressure-tight?

Not by default. The closed dome protects the thread end, but pressure or fluid sealing requires an expressly engineered sealing interface and validation.

Why is stud projection important?

An overlong stud can bottom inside the dome before the nut seats and develops the intended clamp load. Dome clearance must be checked.

Can a cap nut replace a standard hex nut?

Only after checking engagement, dome clearance, proof or mechanical requirements, seating area, wrenching space and joint inspection.
