Product Detail

Product Introduction

Grade 5 Titanium Set Screws are headless threaded fasteners used to position or retain components by transmitting contact pressure through a selected point form. The complete joint definition must address point geometry, shaft material and hardness, surface damage, vibration, thread engagement, installation torque, reuse and galling control.

Selection and Configuration

  • Cup point: Provides concentrated rim contact and is commonly selected for general retention where controlled surface marking is acceptable.
  • Cone or dog point: Cone points provide localized penetration; dog points locate in a prepared hole or slot. Both require compatible mating geometry.
  • Flat point: Provides broader contact and can reduce surface marking, but holding performance still depends on preload, friction and service conditions.
Standards and ordering definition: ISO 4026, ISO 4027, ISO 4028, ISO 4029 and corresponding DIN or ASME B18 references may define particular geometries when expressly invoked. The order must separately define titanium grade, condition, drive and point acceptance, mechanical requirements and testing.

FAQ

Which titanium set-screw point should be selected?

Select the point from the mating component, permitted surface marking, positioning need, vibration and required holding method. Cup, cone, flat and dog points are not interchangeable by default.

Can the holding force be calculated from titanium grade alone?

No. Holding performance depends on point geometry, installation preload, thread engagement, mating-material hardness, friction, surface condition and loading.

How can galling be controlled?

Use compatible mating materials, clean threads, an approved lubricant or coating, controlled installation speed and a validated torque procedure suitable for the service environment.
