Product Detail

Product Introduction

Source Grade 2 titanium sheet and plate to ASTM B265 for chemical, marine and industrial fabrication, with certification and cut sizes. Final supply is controlled by the grade, specification revision, dimensions, condition, tolerance, inspection and documentation stated on the approved order.

Why is Grade 2 widely specified for titanium sheet and plate?

Selection answer: Grade 2 combines commercially pure titanium corrosion resistance with moderate strength and useful fabrication characteristics, making it a common starting point for welded chemical, marine and heat-transfer equipment.

Selection boundary: Grade 2 is not automatically adequate for every reducing acid, crevice or high-strength duty. Compare Grade 7 or Grade 12 for corrosion-selected service and Grade 5 where strength rather than fabrication governs.

RFQ data to confirm: Provide the process medium, concentration, temperature, thickness, fabrication route, weld details, dimensions and required inspection documents.

Additional Supply & Ordering Details

Useful, technically consistent information consolidated from earlier product pages.

Product-form boundaryOrder sheet, plate or cut blank expressly. Thickness naming conventions do not replace the invoked ASTM B265 / ASME SB265 scope, dimensional tolerances and buyer-approved product form.
Fabrication data to provideState vessel or component use, rolling or grain direction when relevant, forming severity, minimum bend radius, weld joint and qualified procedure, flatness, surface and edge requirements.
Corrosion-selection boundaryGrade 2 is a common baseline for oxidizing and chloride-bearing service, but actual medium, concentration, aeration, contaminants, temperature, crevices and galvanic interfaces must be reviewed.
Inspection packageDefine MTC, heat traceability, dimensions and flatness, surface acceptance, PMI and any ultrasonic or penetrant examination with method, coverage and acceptance criteria.

FAQ

How should sheet and plate be distinguished on an ASTM B265 order?

ASTM B265 covers strip, sheet and plate, but a purchase order must name the required product form and dimensions. Do not rely on an informal thickness label alone; specify thickness, width, length, flatness, edges, condition and applicable tolerances.

Is ASTM B265 Grade 2 the same as Grade 2H?

They share the UNS R50400 chemistry family, but Grade 2H carries a higher guaranteed minimum tensile strength. Grade 2 material should not be represented as Grade 2H unless the certificate demonstrates compliance.

What information is needed to quote Grade 2 titanium sheet or plate?

Provide ASTM B265 revision, Grade 2 / UNS R50400, sheet, plate or cut-blank form, thickness, width, length, quantity, condition, surface, flatness, edge, forming or welding plan, service environment, tests and MTC requirements.
