Product Detail
Product Introduction
ASTM B861 Titanium Seamless Pipe is purchased by an exact tube or pipe specification and project datasheet. Tube and pipe are not interchangeable descriptions: the RFQ must state the product form, grade, dimensions, manufacturing route, condition, service and acceptance tests.
Product Specifications
| Product | ASTM B861 Titanium Seamless Pipe | Grade | Titanium Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 7, Grade 9, Grade 12 or specified alloy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ASTM B861 / ASME SB861 as ordered applies only where its scope covers the ordered form. B338 is a condenser and heat-exchanger tube specification; B861 covers seamless pipe; B862 covers welded pipe. Do not substitute one solely because the alloy grade is the same. | Size & Form | Order-defined OD or NPS, wall/schedule, straight length, U-bend geometry or coil dimensions |
| Tolerance | Applicable standard plus order-defined diameter, wall, length, straightness, end, bend or coil tolerances | Supply Condition | Seamless, welded, cold worked, annealed, straight length, U-bent or coiled as expressly ordered |
| Inspection | Material-certificate and heat-identity review, chemistry and mechanical properties, OD or NPS, wall and length, surface and ends, straightness or coil/bend geometry, plus pressure, eddy-current, ultrasonic or supplementary testing when ordered. | Documents | MTC, heat/lot traceability and agreed inspection reports |

Chemical-process piping
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

Marine and seawater systems
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

Corrosion-resistant industrial pipework
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.
FAQ
Is titanium tube the same as titanium pipe?
No. Tube is generally ordered by OD and wall for heat-transfer or precision service; pipe is generally ordered by pipe size and wall/schedule. The governing specification and dimensions must be stated.
Can seamless and welded material be substituted?
Only with purchaser approval after confirming the governing standard, size range, service, design code, fabrication route and required inspection.
What information is needed for quotation?
Provide grade, standard/revision, dimensions, quantity, route, condition, ends, service, tests, cleanliness and document requirements.
