Product Detail

Product Introduction

Grade 2 Titanium Wing Nuts provide two integral wings for manual tightening and removal where tool-free adjustment is useful. Manual input limits achievable preload, and the wings introduce clearance and snag considerations. Define thread engagement, mating fastener, frequency of adjustment, vibration, retention method and permitted hand torque.

Selection and Configuration

  • Hand adjustment: Confirm that manually achievable torque and clamp load are suitable for the joint and duty.
  • Wing envelope: Define overall width, height, wing thickness and surrounding clearance for fingers and nearby components.
  • Retention and vibration: If loosening resistance is required, specify a compatible secondary retention feature rather than assuming wing geometry provides locking.
Standards and ordering definition: DIN 315 or an approved drawing may define wing-nut geometry when expressly invoked. The order must separately define titanium grade, condition, thread class, manufacturing route, mechanical acceptance, tests and documentation.

FAQ

Are wing nuts suitable for high-preload joints?

They are mainly intended for hand adjustment and normally cannot develop the controlled preload of a wrench-tightened nut. The joint must be designed accordingly.

Do titanium wing nuts resist vibration loosening?

Wing form alone is not a locking feature. Vibration duty may require a compatible lock washer, prevailing-torque element, pin or another validated retention method.

What should be included in an RFQ?

Provide titanium grade, standard or drawing, thread and fit, wing dimensions, quantity, mating fastener, adjustment duty, retention, tests and certificates.
