Product Detail
Product Introduction
Grade 2 Titanium Self-Tapping Screws form or cut a mating thread during installation into a compatible pilot hole or substrate. Successful use depends on substrate material and thickness, pilot-hole diameter, thread-forming or thread-cutting design, point style, drive, installation speed, torque window, corrosion compatibility and reuse policy.
Product Specifications
| Product | Grade 2 Titanium Self-Tapping Screws | Material | Titanium Grade 2 / UNS R50400 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Product Form | Standard or drawing-specific titanium fastener | Typical Inquiry Range | Metric, inch and custom sizes confirmed at RFQ stage |
| Dimensional References | Expressly invoked standard or approved drawing | Threads / Dimensions | Metric coarse or fine, UNC, UNF or drawing-specific as applicable |
| Surface | Machined and cleaned; lubricant, anti-galling treatment or coating by agreement | Documents | MTC, heat/lot traceability and dimensional inspection report |
| Inspection | Dimensions, thread gauging, surface and agreed functional or mechanical tests | Supply Basis | Approved purchase order, invoked standard and drawing |
Typical inquiry ranges are not a stock guarantee. Final manufacturability, tolerances and test requirements are confirmed against the complete RFQ.
Selection and Configuration
- Substrate and pilot hole: State material, hardness, thickness, hole diameter and whether a punched, drilled or molded pilot hole is used.
- Thread-forming method: Define tapping thread and point style, and confirm whether the screw forms, displaces or cuts the mating material.
- Installation control: Validate drive engagement, seating torque, stripping torque, speed, lubrication and corrosion or galvanic conditions.

Mechanical Properties – Grade 2 Material Reference
| Property | Annealed Grade 2 Material Reference Minimum |
|---|---|
| Ultimate tensile strength | 345 MPa (50 ksi) |
| 0.2% yield strength | 275 MPa (40 ksi) |
| Elongation | 20% |
Material values do not automatically establish finished-fastener loadability. Finished-part acceptance depends on geometry, manufacturing route, condition and the expressly invoked fastener specification or drawing.

FAQ
Do titanium self-tapping screws work in every metal?
No. Substrate hardness, thickness, ductility and pilot-hole size determine whether the thread can form without screw damage, stripping or excessive installation torque.
Is a pilot hole required?
Usually yes unless the expressly selected design and substrate support another installation method. Pilot-hole diameter must be validated for the exact screw, material and thickness.
Can self-tapping screws be reused?
Reuse should not be assumed. Removal and reinsertion can change the formed thread, holding strength, drive condition and corrosion protection, so the application must define a reuse policy.
