Product Introduction
Titanium stub ends form the process-wetted lap used with a rotatable backing flange. How should a titanium stub end be matched to a lap joint flange?
Selection answer: A stub end provides the wetted lap and weld end used with a rotating backing flange. Select short or long pattern, lap geometry, outside diameter, wall or schedule and grade to match the connected pipe and flange assembly.
Selection boundary: The stub end and backing flange have separate material and dimensional functions. Their lap radius, thickness, facing contact, pipe bore, weld end and pressure design must be reviewed together.
RFQ data to confirm: Provide stub-end pattern, grade, NPS or OD, wall or schedule, overall length, lap diameter and thickness, corner radius, weld end, backing-flange details, service conditions, quantity, inspection and certificates.

Selection and Configuration
- Complete lap-joint assembly: Review stub end, backing flange, gasket and bolting as one joint; the backing flange is not the wetted sealing lap.
- Stub-end form: State Type A, B or C when the invoked standard uses that designation, plus long or short pattern and manufacturing route.
- Mating dimensions: Coordinate pipe OD and wall, lap OD and thickness, corner radius, face finish, bore, weld end and backing-flange clearance.

Is a stub end used without a backing flange?
A lap-joint stub end normally provides the wetted lap while a compatible backing flange supplies the bolting load. The complete joint must be specified together.
Which dimensions are critical?

Does ASTM B363 alone define every stub end?
