Product Detail

Product Introduction

Source Grade 2 titanium pipe and tube for heat exchangers, chemical processing and seawater service, with testing documents. Final supply is controlled by the grade, specification revision, dimensions, condition, tolerance, inspection and documentation stated on the approved order.

Why is Grade 2 common for process pipe and heat-exchanger tube?

Selection answer: Grade 2 offers a practical combination of CP titanium corrosion resistance, weldability and moderate strength for seawater, condenser, desalination and chemical equipment when the environment is suitable.

Selection boundary: Product standards serve different forms: ASTM B338, B861 and B862 should not be listed as interchangeable without defining tube versus seamless or welded pipe. Corrosion suitability also requires actual process conditions.

RFQ data to confirm: Provide the applicable product standard, seamless or welded route, OD or NPS, wall, length, ends, process medium, temperature, NDT and hydrostatic or pneumatic test requirements.

FAQ

What is the difference between ASTM B338, B861 and B862 for Grade 2 titanium?

ASTM B338 covers seamless and welded tube for condensers, evaporators and heat exchangers. ASTM B861 covers seamless pipe, while ASTM B862 covers welded pipe for general corrosion-resistant and elevated-temperature service. Select the standard from the actual product form and duty.

Is Grade 2 titanium pipe automatically suitable for seawater or chemical service?

No. Grade 2 is widely used in suitable oxidizing and chloride-bearing environments, but selection still depends on medium, concentration, aeration, contaminants, temperature, crevices, velocity, pressure and galvanic interfaces.

What information is needed to quote Grade 2 titanium pipe or tube?

Provide ASTM B338, B861 or B862 and revision, Grade 2 / UNS R50400, seamless or welded route, OD or NPS, wall or schedule, length, ends, quantity, service conditions, NDE, pressure testing, MTC and traceability.
