Is ASTM B863 Grade 23 wire automatically ASTM F136 implant material?
No. ASTM B863 Grade 23 is UNS R56407. ASTM F136 surgical-implant material is UNS R56401 and carries separate chemical, mechanical and metallurgical requirements. The purchase order must state the required specification and UNS.
Is Grade 23 wire the same as ERTi-5 welding wire?
No. Grade 23 is a wrought Ti-6Al-4V ELI material grade. ERTi-5 is a welding-filler classification used under a qualified welding procedure. Do not substitute one description for the other.
What information is needed to quote Grade 23 wire?
