Product Detail
Product Introduction
Source Grade 23 Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium tube for medical and aerospace applications, with certification and traceability. Final supply is controlled by the grade, specification revision, dimensions, condition, tolerance, inspection and documentation stated on the approved order.
How should Grade 23 Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium tube be specified?
Selection answer: Start with the exact tube specification or customer drawing rather than the alloy name alone. Define Grade 23 / UNS R56407, manufacturing route, OD, wall, length, condition, mechanical acceptance and traceability.
Selection boundary: Do not assume that ASTM B338 or ASTM F136 provides a complete Grade 23 tube purchase description. Their published scopes do not establish a generic Grade 23 tube route, and medical or aerospace acceptance can require separate quality and regulatory controls.
RFQ data to confirm: For quotation review, send the governing document, end use, dimensions, tolerances, condition, cleanliness, NDE, test sampling, packaging, quantity and required certificate package.
Product Specifications
| Product | Grade 23 Ti-6Al-4V ELI Titanium Tube | Grade | Grade 23 / Ti-6Al-4V ELI / UNS R56407 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Grade 23 / Ti-6Al-4V ELI / UNS R56407 tube must be ordered to an expressly agreed tube specification or customer drawing. ASTM B338 does not list Grade 23 in its current tube-grade scope, and ASTM F136 covers selected wrought implant product forms rather than tube. | Size & Form | Tube and cut lengths; OD, wall and length are reviewed against the RFQ |
| Tolerance | Material standard or customer drawing | Supply Condition | Annealed seamless tube with clean, protected packaging |
| Inspection | Confirm the governing specification and revision, heat/lot identity, chemistry and interstitial limits, condition and heat treatment, OD, wall, length and straightness, surface and cleanliness, mechanical-test sampling, required NDE, dimensional report and protected traceable packaging. | Documents | MTC, heat/lot traceability and agreed inspection reports |

Aerospace tubing
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

High-integrity lightweight assemblies
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.
FAQ
Is Grade 23 Ti-6Al-4V ELI tube covered by ASTM B338?
No. The current ASTM B338 scope for condenser and heat-exchanger tube does not list Grade 23. Do not certify Grade 23 tube to ASTM B338 unless a valid invoked specification and documented technical review explicitly support the order.
Can ASTM F136 be used as a complete tube specification?
No. ASTM F136 covers wrought annealed Ti-6Al-4V ELI for specified surgical-implant product forms and does not list tube. It also identifies UNS R56401, so it must not be treated as an automatic substitute for Grade 23 / UNS R56407 tube requirements.
What information is needed to quote Grade 23 titanium tube?
Provide the exact tube specification or approved drawing, Grade 23 / UNS R56407, seamless or other approved route, OD, wall, length, condition, surface and cleanliness, application, quantity, test sampling, NDE, MTC and heat/lot traceability.
