Product Detail

Product Introduction

Grade 4 Titanium Wire is supplied for corrosion-resistant fabrication and precision manufacturing. The final purchase definition must identify the exact material designation, governing specification and revision, dimensions, condition, tolerances, tests and documentation; trade-name or cross-standard equivalence is not assumed.

Specification & Selection Notes

Product-standard boundary

ASTM B863-23 covers titanium and titanium-alloy wire and identifies Grade 4 as UNS R50700 unalloyed titanium. The RFQ must still state the exact revision, wire diameter and tolerance, straight length or coil/spool format, condition, surface, cast or helix requirements where relevant, and required documentation.

Inspection and traceability

Verify Grade 4 / UNS R50700 heat identity, chemistry, tensile properties and hardness where required, diameter and tolerance, straightness or cast/helix, surface, spool or coil data, marking, MTC and heat/lot traceability. Add cleanliness, special surface, NDT or customer witness only with an agreed method and acceptance criteria.

Selection boundary

Grade 4 is the highest-strength commonly specified commercially pure titanium grade. Select it when the required minimum strength and CP titanium material family are supported by the design, while recognizing that forming latitude generally differs from lower-strength Grade 1 or Grade 2 wire.

Technical FAQ

Is Grade 4 titanium wire the same as welding filler wire?

No. ASTM B863 Grade 4 describes wrought wire material. Welding filler must be selected by the qualified WPS and the applicable filler classification; a base-metal grade name alone does not establish filler acceptance.

How does Grade 4 wire differ from Grade 2 wire?

Both are commercially pure titanium grades, but Grade 4 has higher specified strength and generally less forming latitude. Chemistry, mechanical requirements and certificates are not interchangeable.

What information is needed to quote Grade 4 wire?

Provide ASTM B863 revision, Grade 4 / UNS R50700, diameter and tolerance, straight length or coil/spool format, condition, surface, forming or machining use, quantity, testing, MTC and destination.

FAQ

What information is required to quote Grade 4 Titanium Wire?

Provide the titanium grade, product form, dimensional standard or drawing, thread or critical dimensions, quantity, surface treatment, mating parts, service conditions and required inspection documents.

Which standards apply to Grade 4 Titanium Wire?

ASTM B863 / ASME SB863

How are Grade 4 Titanium Wire inspected?

MTC review, dimensional and surface inspection, heat/lot traceability, with PMI or applicable NDT when specified
