Product Detail

Product Introduction

Source ASTM B348 Grade 2 titanium bar with strong corrosion resistance, weldability, cut-to-size supply and material certification. Final supply is controlled by the grade, specification revision, dimensions, condition, tolerance, inspection and documentation stated on the approved order.

How should Grade 2 ASTM B348 titanium bar be specified?

Selection answer: Define the product as ASTM B348/B348M Grade 2 / UNS R50400 bar, then state round or other approved section, dimensions, length, annealed condition, surface and dimensional tolerances. The word rod alone is not a complete purchasing description.

Selection boundary: Do not select Grade 2 solely from a generic corrosion claim. Review the actual medium, concentration, temperature, crevices and galvanic interfaces, and compare Grade 7 or Grade 12 where corrosion-selected service requires it.

RFQ data to confirm: For machining quotations, include the finished-part envelope, stock allowance, straightness datum, end condition, quantity, inspection and heat/lot traceability requirements.

Additional Supply & Ordering Details

Useful, technically consistent information consolidated from earlier product pages.

Bar and rod definitionCommercial bar and rod terminology can overlap. Control the order with ASTM B348 / ASME SB348, Grade 2 / UNS R50400, diameter or section, length, condition and tolerance.
Condition and surfaceState hot rolled, forged, annealed, peeled, pickled, turned or centerless-ground supply, together with decarburization-free surface expectations, straightness and machining allowance.
Machining inputProvide finished component diameter, length, datum, stock removal, end condition and whether straightness is required on full length, cut length or after rough machining.
Inspection packageDefine MTC, heat identity, diameter mapping, straightness, surface, mechanical results and any PMI, UT or PT requirements with acceptance criteria.

FAQ

Does ASTM B348 cover Grade 2 titanium rod?

ASTM B348/B348M is titled for bars and billets. Commercial “rod” can describe round bar, but the purchase order should invoke ASTM B348 Grade 2 / UNS R50400 and define the actual section, diameter, length, condition and tolerances.

Is Grade 2H the same ordering grade as Grade 2?

Grade 2H uses the same UNS R50400 chemistry family but carries a higher guaranteed minimum tensile strength. It can meet Grade 2 requirements as allowed by the standard, but Grade 2 material should not be assumed to meet Grade 2H without certification.

What information is needed to quote Grade 2 titanium bar?

Provide ASTM B348/B348M revision, Grade 2 / UNS R50400, round or other section, diameter or dimensions, length, condition, surface, tolerance, straightness, machining allowance, quantity, application, tests and MTC requirements.
