Product Introduction

Grade 5 Titanium Hex Flange Bolts combine a hex wrenching head and integral circular flange that distributes bearing load over a larger area than a conventional hex head alone. The joint must define flange diameter and underside, mating surface, washer policy, serrations if any, thread, grip, engagement, tightening method and galling control.

Selection and Configuration

  • Flange interface: Define flange diameter, thickness, underside geometry, bearing surface and whether a separate washer is permitted or prohibited.
  • Plain or serrated: State underside condition. Serrations can change locking behavior, surface damage, reuse and corrosion performance and require application validation.
  • Joint control: Specify thread and fit, length, grip, mating material, preload method, lubricant or coating and service environment.
Standards and ordering definition: ISO 4162, DIN 6921 or an approved drawing may define hex flange bolt geometry when expressly invoked. The order must separately define titanium grade, condition, mechanical acceptance, flange underside, testing and documentation.

FAQ

What is the purpose of the integral flange?

It increases the bearing area beneath the head and can simplify joint hardware. Actual bearing stress and surface compatibility still require review.

Are serrated flange bolts reusable?

Reuse should not be assumed. Serrations can damage the mating surface and their locking behavior can change after installation and removal.

Does DIN 6921 define Grade 2 or Grade 5 titanium?

No. It can provide geometry when invoked, while titanium material, condition, finished-bolt acceptance, testing and certificates must be specified separately.
