Product Introduction

Grade 2 Titanium Shoulder Bolts combine a precision cylindrical shoulder with a smaller threaded end. The shoulder may function as a bearing surface, pivot, guide or spacer, so diameter tolerance, surface finish, shoulder length, straightness, runout, head-to-shoulder transition and thread engagement must be controlled as a complete drawing-defined component.

  • Shoulder fit: Define shoulder diameter, tolerance class, surface finish and mating bore or bearing clearance.
  • Length and transition: Control usable shoulder length, head fillet, thread relief and any undercut so mating parts seat without interference.
  • Thread and loading: Specify thread, engagement, tightening method, shear and bending duty, mating material, lubrication and galling controls.
Standards and ordering definition: ISO 7379, ASME B18.3 or a customer drawing may be reviewed for shoulder-screw geometry when expressly invoked. These references do not automatically define Grade 2 or Grade 5 titanium material condition, mechanical acceptance, precision tolerance or finished-part testing.

FAQ

What dimension is most important on a shoulder bolt?

The shoulder diameter, tolerance, usable shoulder length and relationship to the mating bore are usually critical. Runout, surface finish and the head fillet can also control fit and motion.

Can ISO 7379 dimensions be ordered directly in titanium?

The geometry can be reviewed, but the order must separately define titanium grade, condition, tolerances, mechanical acceptance, finish and inspection. Direct substitution from a steel part should not be assumed.

Is the threaded end intended to carry shear?

The joint should normally be designed so the precision shoulder carries the intended transverse load. Actual load paths, bending, engagement and safety factors require engineering review.
