Product Detail
Product Introduction
Source Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V titanium pipe and tube for aerospace and high-strength systems, with inspection and traceability. Final supply is controlled by the grade, specification revision, dimensions, condition, tolerance, inspection and documentation stated on the approved order.
How should Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V pipe or tube be specified?
Selection answer: Select Grade 5 / UNS R56400 when a qualified design requires Ti-6Al-4V strength-to-weight performance. For ASTM pipe, identify B861 seamless or B862 welded construction and the required annealed or aged condition.
Selection boundary: Do not extend an ASTM B338 heat-exchanger-tube description to Grade 5. For aerospace or drawing-controlled tubing, identify the exact applicable material and product specification, manufacturing route, heat treatment and acceptance tests.
RFQ data to confirm: Send OD or NPS, wall or schedule, length, ends, pressure or structural function, service temperature, fabrication and welding plan, NDT, certificates, marking and heat/lot traceability for RFQ review.
Product Specifications
| Product | Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V Titanium Pipe & Tube | Grade | Grade 5 / Ti-6Al-4V / UNS R56400 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | ASTM B861 covers Grade 5 / UNS R56400 seamless titanium alloy pipe, while ASTM B862 covers Grade 5 welded titanium alloy pipe. Current ASTM B338 is limited to listed condenser, evaporator and heat-exchanger tube grades and does not list Grade 5; therefore B338 must not be assumed for a Grade 5 tube inquiry. State the exact governing product or aerospace specification. | Size & Form | Tube and pipe; OD, wall thickness, length and end finish are quotation-controlled |
| Tolerance | Applicable standard or customer drawing | Supply Condition | Annealed seamless product or fabricated tube per agreed route |
| Inspection | Verify the invoked standard and revision, Grade 5 / UNS R56400 heat identity, chemistry, mechanical properties in the ordered annealed or aged condition, OD or NPS, wall or schedule, length, straightness, ends and surface. Define hydrostatic or pneumatic testing, flattening or bend requirements, weld examination for welded pipe, ultrasonic or other NDT, marking, MTC and heat/lot traceability. | Documents | MTC, heat/lot traceability and agreed inspection reports |

Services We Can Provide
Product Packaging
Pipe and tube ends are capped, surfaces are wrapped where required, and bundles or export cases are identified by grade, size, heat and quantity. Typical export packaging for the same physical product form is shown below; final packing is confirmed for each order.

Application Scenarios

Aerospace structures and ducts
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

High-strength fluid systems
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.

Motorsport and marine assemblies
Material grade, dimensions, condition and inspection must be matched to the application requirements.
FAQ
Can Grade 5 titanium tube be ordered to ASTM B338?
Do not assume so. The current ASTM B338 scope lists condenser, evaporator and heat-exchanger tubing grades but does not list Grade 5. Use an expressly applicable specification; ASTM B861 covers Grade 5 seamless pipe and ASTM B862 covers Grade 5 welded pipe.
What is the difference between ASTM B861 and ASTM B862 for Grade 5?
ASTM B861 is the seamless-pipe specification. ASTM B862 is the welded-pipe specification and adds controls related to flat-rolled input, welding, condition and weld quality. The route must be stated rather than selected from alloy grade alone.
What information is needed to quote Grade 5 titanium pipe or tube?
Provide Grade 5 / UNS R56400, exact standard and revision, seamless or welded route, OD or NPS, wall or schedule, length, condition or heat treatment, ends, quantity, pressure or structural duty, NDT, MTC and traceability.
