Grade 5 Titanium Self-Tapping Screws form or cut a mating thread during installation into a compatible pilot hole or substrate. Successful use depends on substrate material and thickness, pilot-hole diameter, thread-forming or thread-cutting design, point style, drive, installation speed, torque window, corrosion compatibility and reuse policy.

  • Thread-forming method: Define tapping thread and point style, and confirm whether the screw forms, displaces or cuts the mating material.
  • Installation control: Validate drive engagement, seating torque, stripping torque, speed, lubrication and corrosion or galvanic conditions.
Standards and ordering definition: ISO 7049, DIN 7981 or a customer drawing may define particular pan-head tapping-screw geometries when expressly invoked. Titanium grade, condition, tapping performance, hardness relationship, tests and finished-part acceptance must be stated separately.

FAQ

Do titanium self-tapping screws work in every metal?

No. Substrate hardness, thickness, ductility and pilot-hole size determine whether the thread can form without screw damage, stripping or excessive installation torque.

Is a pilot hole required?

Usually yes unless the expressly selected design and substrate support another installation method. Pilot-hole diameter must be validated for the exact screw, material and thickness.

Can self-tapping screws be reused?

Reuse should not be assumed. Removal and reinsertion can change the formed thread, holding strength, drive condition and corrosion protection, so the application must define a reuse policy.
