Product Introduction

A titanium pipe cap is a terminal fitting that closes the end of a titanium pipe or nozzle. It does not change the piping route like an elbow or pipe bend. Define grade, NPS or OD, wall or schedule, cap depth, end preparation, forming or fabrication route, pressure-design basis and inspection.

Selection and Configuration

  • Closure function: Use a cap to terminate a line or close an equipment connection; identify permanent, removable-after-cutting or fabrication-stage service.
  • Mating pipe: State pipe OD or NPS, wall, end bevel, bore match and allowable fit-up gap.
  • Forming quality: Control crown profile, minimum wall after forming, ovality, wrinkles, surface and any weld seam when fabricated.
Pressure-design note: Dimensional conformity does not by itself establish pressure rating. The piping designer must verify material allowable stress, wall thickness, weld joint, corrosion allowance, temperature and governing construction code.

FAQ

Is a pipe cap the same as a blind flange?

No. A cap is welded or otherwise attached to the pipe end, while a blind flange bolts to a mating flange and can be removed.

Which dimensions should be supplied?

Provide NPS or OD, wall, cap depth, crown profile, end preparation, tolerances and mating-pipe details.

What forming inspection is important?

Check minimum wall, profile, ovality, wrinkles, surface, end geometry and any specified PT, RT or UT.
